What would it be like to live free from shame? Not in a way that denies the existence of the Lord's commands, but in a way that receives the freedom of his mercy. -Raechel MyersRecently I started a new Bible study over the women in the Bible. Of course any such study of the Bible has to start at the beginning with the first woman- Eve. Now for most, they know Eve as the first woman on earth and often we give her the identity of being the first to sin, or the reason for the fall, or the one who didn't listen to God's one command. While some of these are true, there is also a very important fact that we cannot forget- she was also the only woman to feel no shame.

Today I was reading through the book of Joshua in the Bible and read the story of the Israelites crossing the Jordan River with Joshua. Joshua had just been put in leadership after Moses, big shoes to fill. I'm sure some of the Israelites were questioning Joshua's leadership, after all, they knew the Lord had been with Moses. Because of this, the Lord chose to show the Israelites that He was with Joshua. He stopped the Jordan River from flowing; as in just stopped the water so that the waters "rose in a heap very far away" (Joshua 3:16), and He used the priests, holding the ark of the covenant to do this.
"It's wedding season" they say. Whoever "they" is. I don't know who decides what time of year is "wedding season" but I'm pretty sure any time of the year is wedding season because someone is getting married. For me, the past five or six years have been wedding season. I've been to 21 weddings in that time span. With that many weddings, they can start to run together, become almost like a routine. Wedding gifts have a place in my budget. I've had to say no to some weddings because I had someone else's wedding on the same day. People say everyone goes through a "season" and I guess mine is longer than most. People say I must have a lot of friends, or that my friends must just be "the marrying type", whatever that means. But let me tell you a little secret: I'm so thankful my friends are the type who marry.
